Lost our way again...

Today I went to nabana-no-sato, a flower garden in Kuwana city, with my father, mother and grandmother Tama-chan. I drove to that garden and it took us more than three hours to get there! At first we couldn't find the park and asked some people where it was. We went up and down, crossing the Kiso River, the Ibi River and the Nagara River several times. It was exhausting but at the same time it was really a good driving practice for me, in a way...

We never get to a destination without losing our way at least once. That's because we don't consult the route carefully on the map beforehand. Usually my father knows the route more or less, and we follow his directions. What we learned from our experience is that memory is unreliable. I will consult the route very, very carefully when we go for a drive next time!

Have you ever lost your way? If so, how did you get out of that situation then?

Tama-chan

Wakako and TamaeI love my grandparents, though my grandfather has been dead for about 14 years and I don't remember him very well.

My grandmother, whose name is Tamae and who is called Tama-chan by her friends, always complains that she has aches everywhere in her body, but she is doing well. Tama-chan is very talkative and she wants to know everything about me, my campus life, my friends and so on. She even asks me about my boyfriend! Sometimes I'm too embarrassed to answer her questions.

How about your grandparents? Do they ask questions like my grandmother does?

My works!

Hi everyone! What do you do in your spare time or on rainy days? I usually do some sewing when I don't have anything special to do. You may ask what I make, so let me show you some of my works.

paisley patterned bagI made this bag about two years ago, but I don't use it so often. That is because I need a stronger bag to carry my dictionaries when I go to university.

floral patterned blouseThis is the most recent work! I wanted a blouse for this summer and I decided to make one by myself. I used a piece of cloth which my mother had bought a long time ago.

floral patterned skirtThis is a piece I made last summer. I wanted a pretty skirt but I couldn't find a nice one at the shops.

When I sew while listening to my favorite music and having a cup of coffee, I feel very happy. I like sewing not only because I can make clothes I like, but also because I get great satisfaction from making clothes as if they were for sale!

Snow tales

MyokoI went snowboarding in Myoko, Niigata Prefecture, during this spring vacation for the first time in my life. I was very happy to see so much snow in Niigata because I had never seen snow covering the ground completely! In Ise, my town, we have little snow and usually it melts soon.

I also saw much snow when I went to Takayama, Gifu Prefecture, this March, and I felt that the texture of the snow in Takayama was different from that of the snow in Ise. My grandmother, who is from Gifu, and one of my friends told me that snow crystals fall in the colder parts of Japan and that it doesn’t happen in Ise. I don’t know if there is any scientific evidence that proves this. Do you know anything about this?

I've found a nice video!

Have you watched any movies or videos recently? Do you have any favorite actors or actresses? I watched a nice video starring Jim Carrey a few days ago and I really enjoyed watching it. He usually stars in comedic movies but this video is not comedy, so you may enjoy his serious acting!
