Lost our way again...

Today I went to nabana-no-sato, a flower garden in Kuwana city, with my father, mother and grandmother Tama-chan. I drove to that garden and it took us more than three hours to get there! At first we couldn't find the park and asked some people where it was. We went up and down, crossing the Kiso River, the Ibi River and the Nagara River several times. It was exhausting but at the same time it was really a good driving practice for me, in a way...

We never get to a destination without losing our way at least once. That's because we don't consult the route carefully on the map beforehand. Usually my father knows the route more or less, and we follow his directions. What we learned from our experience is that memory is unreliable. I will consult the route very, very carefully when we go for a drive next time!

Have you ever lost your way? If so, how did you get out of that situation then?

Yesterday I also got lost on my way twice! First, I went to Ayumi-san's house in Tsu. That was my first visit there, but some time ago she showed it to me when we passed in front of it. So I relied on my memory, which was the problem. I made the rounds of her neighborhood several times by bike before I finally I found the place.

After I managed to meet Ayumi-san, we left her house for Takada college to take an examination. Then we got lost on our way again and asked some people how to get there as you did.

Yesterday I did a lot of cycling, which made me very tired. But it was good exercise.

I often lose my way because I am not able to remember the route unless I pass through it so many times, and what is more, I have no sense of direction... Yukiko-san, you remember that I lost my way several times when I visited your house from Miyamachi station, don't you? Although it is a rather short and simple route, I often turn the corner too early and couldn't get to your house easily... But now, I am a master of the route for your house, because I visited again and again to meet you and your nice family!

The pictures of nabana-no-sato you showed me yesterday were very nice! The flowers were so beautiful, and all of you looked happy.I have never been to nabana-no-sato, but I would like to go there someday.

Thank you for your comments, Masami-san and Eri-san! I feel less anxious about my poor sense of direction after I read them.

Yes. I remember well that you had a difficulty in getting to my house, Eri-san. I also remember that I couldn't find your house though I was walking nearby.

Though I think my sense of direction is still poor, it has been gradually improved by driving a car. When driving, I pay much attention to many things along the road, such as large buildings and advertisements. They help me remember the route, and I can get to the destination without losing my way the next time.
