Bang!
There used to be an awfully breathtaking band on the Japanese rock scene: Blankey Jet City. They were a three-piece band and blew the mind of anyone who listened to their sound. You should confirm wether it is true or not.
I know Blankey Jet City just by name, and I thought that they were only one of minor rock bands. Have you ever been to their gigs?
Blankey Jet City used to be a very famous rock band. They broke up a couple of years ago, but they still have a lot of fans even now.
I became one of their fans recently. My brother, who is an enthusiastic fan of theirs, recommended me to listen to "BLANKEY". It did blow my mind!
I listened to the "midwest punk" sound. Rattbelly reminds me of Nicotine, a Japanese punk rock band. Its sound can be obtained for free here, although those are just samples.
Such punk sound aroused the band club that I belonged to a few years ago to enthusiasm. But I do not know what the latest trend in the club is.
I think that Blankey Jet City is not a punk rock band. I have not been to their gigs because they had already broken up when I got hooked on them.
Wow! I'm so honored to see my band's name showing up in a discussion in a different country! This is great! I'd be interested in hearing some music by nicotine, to see how we compare to them. We try to make our music a hybrid of Heavy Metal and Punk Rock -- we use the rhythmic style of metal and the melodic and harmonic style of punk to deliver our message. Most importantly, we try to always have fun doing it. If you'd like, I'd be happy to send a copy of our album to you, just email me with a snail mail address and I'll send you a freebie. :-)
Hi Dan! That's your demo CD as reviewed by Jenny B? Gimme!
Dan was slighly irritated at my "whatever that means" response, further up on this page, to the phrase "midwest punk". He suspected I was putting down the American Midwest and its music scene, which I wasn't, simply because I'm too ignorant to have an opinion on it. I asked him to educate me, however, and here's Dan's characterisation of regional punk styles in the U.S.:
there are indeed "East-Coast," "West-Coast," and "Southern" punk styles. EC punk tends to be more world-weary, bitter, cold, and hardcore-ish, focusing mainly on harsh rhythms and barking vocals. Western punk (also known as SoCal since most of it comes from Southern California) is more adolescent, sometimes puerile, with a much greater focus on melody and speedy, poppy songwriting. The southern sound is still a little nebulous, as is the Midwestern sound. We're trying to define it as best we can through our music.

I don't know what Blankey Jet City sound like, but they certainly look like a tough bunch.
This reminds me: my friend Dan sings and plays the guitar in a band named Rattbelly. They describe their music as "midwest punk" (whatever that means), and they allow you to download many of their songs for free.
How do you like them?
