Teacher wanted girl to disappear
The Asahi Shimbun reports that in Kyoto Prefecture a part-time teacher named Yu Hagino brought two knives and a hammer to school and killed one of his students:
He entered a classroom and ordered all the students to leave, except for one girl. After locking the door and unplugging the security camera, Hagino made the girl “disappear” to get rid of a problem that had bothered him for months.
That is what police said occurred Saturday when a 12-year-old girl was murdered at a cram school here.
Hagino, 23, was arrested Saturday and sent to prosecutors Sunday on suspicion of murdering Sayano Horimoto. The girl had been stabbed several times, including in her neck and chest.
Recently, attacks on young children have been increasing. Those cases happened in several school zones and a cram school. I think such places must be made absolutely safe. When I think about my childhood days, I feel that this world has turned dangerous for young children, and moreover the border between the country and the town does not exist any longer.
The only solution of criminal cases in school zones is that adults are more attentive, I think. Teachers and staff should have prevented the case of the cram school murder before it happened. They should have watched other teachers and students.
