A WEBLOG MADE IN JAPAN

Forget-the-year party season

I have a part-time job at a Japanese-style bar’s kitchen. I started this job at the end of April this year. At first my part was only washing rice and dishes. But gradually I was taught how to cook grilled dishes. For example yakitori (grilled chicken on a bamboo skewer), yakionigiri (grilled rice ball), and more. Now I can cook almost all grilled dishes the eating house offers. I must take care not only of the taste of foods but also their display. It is difficult to show the dishes attractively.

Recently the bar has become busier and busier because the end of the year is drawing near. It’s the bonenkai (“forget-the-year party”) season. People often hold it at a restaurant and appreciate each other’s great pains for the year. People often choose hot pot when they hold their bonenkai and decide what they want to eat. They sit around a hot pot and talk friendly. I envy them. When some customers enjoy a party, I must prepare other customers’ party. My part is to display hot pot decoratively.

I have a part-time job at restaurant too!

Forget-the-year party season comes, so, the reataurant which I have worked also has become busier and busier.

By the way, your photo’s cooking looks very delicious.
