My dog Reo

ReoThis is a very lovely picture I took of my dog Reo, a Golden Retriever.

Reo is dead now.

I cherished him for nearly eleven years. He came to my house when I was eight years old. In those days, he was very small and of course very pretty.

As for his character, I can’t say he was wise, but he was a good dog. For example, he could play ote, okawari, osuwari and mate. And he liked to play with balls: when I threw a ball, he ran after it and fetched it back. Besides, I don’t know the reason, but he often licked cans when I took him for a walk. Maybe he thought they were delicious.

Last winter Reo suddenly lost his good health. He hardly ate any food any longer. Even if he did eat, he vomited everything he had eaten. As time passed, he gradually became weak. At last, he died.

I remembered many things we had lived through and was very sad, but Reo, sleeping forever, looked like he was happy.

Of course, now, I like dogs very much. But if my family bought a new dog, we’d feel guilty for Reo. So, I won’t buy a new dog. I was glad to have Reo.

My family and I have always had a lot of dogs. While my brother favours fair-furred Golden Retrievers like you do, I have opted for black ones. First, we had a Groenendael (Belgian Shepherd) called Flick , which means police in French. When he died of a heart attack one day, we were all very sad but instead of mourning long, we decided to buy a Giant Schnauzer, which is black as well, but of a different built and personality. Her name was Millie and she had 2 litters (11 puppies in all but we only kept 2: Aramis and Artemis. The others were sold). So since then, we have had 5 Schnauzers and 2 litters. Millie and Artemis died last year, so we bought Babi and when our old and loyal 11-year-old Aramis finally died of pneumonia last july, Ozzy came to replace him and keep company to Babi.

We cherish the good memories and moments we had with Flick, Millie, Artemis, Aramis in the past, but I also hope that Babi and Ozzy will bring us the joy of a new whole bunch of puppies soon. Life goes on!

That’s a sad story, Daichi-san, but Bee is right, of course: life goes on.

You may not want to buy another dog now, but once you’re out of university and settled down, I’m sure you’ll get another one…

Nice doggie pics, Bee!

That’s a pity, but I think he was happy having been cherished by you. Reo was really lucky to meet Daichi!

I have a dog called Love and it is about ten years since she came. The situation is very near to yours. I’ll cherish her as long as she’s here.

Hi! Yuuna.

What kind of dog do you have?

I want you to cherish Love!

Hi, Daichi.

Love is a mongrel dog and just the size of my bag. (even spots resemble her! ) She seldom barks and always waggles her tail.

Now she is at my grandma’s because from morning to evening, nobody in my family can look after her. If doing so, she’d feel lonely. My grandparent takes good care of her.

I am really sorry. Reo is relly good partner with you forever, I think. As you know I also have a dog called Shiro. (Shiro is a Japanese word which means white in English.) My dog is just 9 years old. I want to form a firm friendship with him like you and Reo.
