I can’t get into the chatroom even with Chatzilla. I recieved a message:’irc is not a registered protocol’ What’s happening to the chatroom??
7:20pm
Mozilla is first and foremost a browser, but it comes with a whole bag of tricks such as, amongst other things, an e-mail client and an IRC client (ChatZilla).
The ‘irc is not registered protocol’ message simply means that you’ve got the browser but you chose not to install the IRC client.
To fix this problem, obviously, you’ll need to install the IRC client.
How?
When you downloaded Mozilla, you downloaded an “installer”, a file named something like Mozilla-Win-32-1.7-nani-nani-jp.exe (the .exe extension means the file is “executable,” ie it’s a script that can run on a Windows machine.)
When you (re-)run this script, you (re-)install Mozilla. One of the first screens you get after the user agreement is a dialog that lets you choose which extra parts (other than the browser itself) you want to install.
Re-install Mozilla, and when you get to this screen, make sure you go for a “Full” install (which installs the brwoser, the e-mail client, ChatZilla, and everything but the kitchen sink) — or you can go for a “Custom” install, which lets you choose what you want to install. If you go the
“Custom” route, make sure you tick the “ChatZilla” box.
Also, the English version of Mozilla should still be on your system. If you can open that, it should include ChatZilla.
If all of the above fails, you might consider downloading a stand-alone IRC client such as HydraIRC, which is free of charge.

Alright — thanks to everyone who participated. In particular: thanks to Ayumi-san for scheduling the session and to Aaron for taking the time to join us! It was both very instructive and lots of fun!
And OMG! We talked about chat acronyms! ROFLMAO! Homework: don’t memorise any of those.
Hey thanks again everyone. I really had a good time chatting with you all. See you online!
Thank you for joining us in the chat yesterday. I enjoyed it a lot!
I also enjoyed a lot chatting with you all yesterday. Thanks for joining us, Campbell-sensei.
Thank you for coming to chat with us, Aaron. It was very enjoyable chat.

The Dilexnet Web interface seems to be broken right now. Maybe I’ll be able to get hold of an administrator who’ll fix it before 8:00 pm — otherwise please use an IRC client such as ChatZilla.
